"Free Will Mode" is a series of videos captured by the artist as she uses the late 90's PC game The Sims to place human artificial intelligence into architectural situations which test the constraints of their ability to respond to the environments they've been placed in. When the game is set to "free will mode," the AI humans in this strategic life simulator eat when hungry, urinate when necessary, sleep when tired, socialize when bored... until eventually they don't feel like it anymore. In these environments, they operate as surveilled alogrithmic performers. In this short looping gif edition for a2p, several anonymous Sims based on famous digifeminist net artists react after setting their simulated kitchen on fire.
