OOzy (2020) animation, color, sound 3’00 loop Sound composition by Scott Reitherman Add’l animation by Ewan Creed "OOzy" is a new study for the 4th in “Oceans Like Us,” an animated series that premiered at bitforms gallery in February 2020. "Oceans Like Us" conjures a literally outlandish sea, an endlessly recombinant repository of destructive historic projections as well as new and healing forms of affection. The spaces of the sea, real and imagined, desired and ignored, churn up new fluid identities and insights for healing futures. "OOzy" takes on the work of Philip Steinberg and Kimberley Peters in their 2015 essay "Wet Ontologies, Fluid Spaces: Giving Depth to Volume through Oceanic Thinking." The prior 3 works in the series—“Love Me,” “Milkcrate Plastisphere,” and “Bow Null”—can be seen at https://bitforms.art/exhibition/wet-logic-sarah-rothberg-and-marina-zurkow/ Collectors will receive a high resolution version when the dust settles.
