Pulsar* is a timelapse that follows the growth of a Physarum Polycephallum during a week, I also registered the electrical activity of its growth, in order to create a soundscape. The Physarum is protist, (unicellular organism), that in its growth process learns and solves mazes. For me, is also a metaphor of life as something we cannot fully perceive and something that will prevail in different forms. This series of Timelapses, records the Physarum expansion and pulsation, which are invisible to the naked eye. Pulsar was developed for “Hybris”, a performatic immersive installation, inspired by climate change, the work reflects on how our era, the Anthopocene, has created new geographies and hybrid beings. The performance was due to be premiered on March 14/2020 in Bogotá, but was cancelled because of COVID-19. Concept and Video: Carmen Gil Vrolijk Sound design: Camilo Giraldo Angel. Scientific advisory: Camila González Rosas Lab: Cielo León.
