Reva Fan is an algorithmic artist and computer graphics engineer based in Beijing, China, specializing in new media art and crypto art. She holds an MA from the Institute of Computing Technology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and has worked in the movie-making, VR, and AR industries as an algorithm engineer for many years. Her research & development work in computer graphics and digital media has biased her artwork towards rationality, examining the relationship between human nature and technology through the integration of traditional culture into digital art. Her project “Through the Window” was released on Art Blocks in 2021, making her the first mainland Chinese artist to issue artwork on the platform. Reva established the Crypto Art Mutual Aid Association community and WeirDAO to support independent crypto artists. Her work has been featured at NEORT++ in Tokyo, Art Basel Hong Kong, and sold through Poly and Yongle auction houses.

“Resonances" is a raw representation of the artist's journey of life-shattering experiences and subsequent reconstruction. It encapsulates the chaotic and disruptive effects of emerging technology, the global anxiety induced by the pandemic, and the information overflow from the volatile crypto art market. Still, the work also builds on a profound interconnectedness with peers, environment, technology, art, and humanity. The creation process echoes this sense of connection, as this work was born of a collaborative effort with twelve artists.

The emergent shapes are cut from intersecting circles, breaking their uniformity. As a metaphor to humanity, each shape begins with its own unique color, yet after intersecting and colliding, that color fragments and reduces or becomes even more vibrant. The interference patterns remind one of raindrops on water’s surface, movement in stillness.
