Nadieh Bremer is a distinguished data and generative artist based in the Netherlands. Under the moniker Visual Cinnamon, Bremer has earned numerous awards, including “Best Individual” from the Information is Beautiful Awards in 2017. Her work, characterized by vivid and playful aesthetics, is informed by her background as an astronomer and data scientist. While her compositions often hint at underlying data or algorithms, the focus is on evoking human emotions and personal responses to each piece. Bremer co-authored the best-selling book Data Sketches, published in 2021, which celebrates the abstract and creative possibilities of data. Her artwork and data visualizations have been showcased by Google News Lab, Sony Music, UNICEF, the New York Times, and UNESCO.

Nadieh Bremer’s artwork wavʌves (pronounced waves) leverages the artist’s playful use of color to convey a sense of interaction. Distinct blocks combine with groups of fluid lines, suggesting the parallel creative processes and intersecting practices at the heart of the N=12. Bremer’s work is intentionally abstract and left to the viewer for interpretation.
