Frederik Vanhoutte is an artist and medical radiation physicist based in Bruges, Belgium. He started sharing work online in 2004 under the pseudonym Wintermute, which was shortened to W:Mute and ultimately transformed into his current moniker, W:Blut. He writes, “Code gives me a way to play, to explore the odd behavior of our world, to find the systems beneath it all.” Frederik discovered coding generating visuals while he was a physics PhD candidate, and for over twenty years, he has continued to evolve his practice, making significant contributions to the networked community of generative artists and the free, open-source software that supports it.
